It is possible to start off with two pair on the flop that turns into a flush by the end.

It is also not possible for two people to split a pot with a flush unless you are both playing the board.

Let's say the board has a A, 7, 8, 9, Q of hearts. If you have a 6 of hearts and your opponent has no hearts, it would be a split pot. If you had a 10 of hearts and your opponent did not have the Jack or King of hearts you would win. If someone had a King of hearts they would have the 'highest hand on the board'. It is, a lot of times important to figure out the highest hand on the board.

I have played with people who did not know this and have folded hands that were the highest on the board. You have no way of losing if you have the highest hand on the board.

Technically speaking, yes, but of course only the flush actually counts. So if your opponent has a higher flush, you lose.

This kind of hand is really frustrating, especially when you have 3 pairs and you lose to a better two pair. I still think 3 pairs deserves some kind of compensation.

In poker the hands are ranked (see link). Since a flush is always better than two pair, it is completely irrelevant if someone has two pair and a flush. Just like if someone has a hand that makes both a straight and a flush (unless it's a straight flush).

You always go with the higher ranking hand. So if two people have a flush, the player with the highest flush card wins.

So in this example player one has AKspades.

Player two has 87spades.

The board is:

8h 7d 3s 5s Ts

So player one has an ace high flush:

A K T 5 3 all spades.

Player two has a ten high flush:

T 8 7 5 3 all spades.

The fact that he could also make two pair, is never a factor, once he makes his flush. But since his opponent has a flush that is ace high (the best possible flush), he wins the hand.

You can have two pair and a flush if you use all 7 cards but with hold em, you only use the best 5 cards and the other card cannot be used to break a tie. The pot is just split.

No, the goal of Hold Em is to make the best Five Card hand. The player with the higher flush will win, the two pair does not count as it would have to be made with all 7 cards on the board and in you hole cards, not five.

You cannot have two pair and a flush in the same hand. A flush requires 5 cards i.e. A,K,Q,J,10.

Two pair requires 4 cards, i.e. 2,2,8,8.

Highest flush winds, Royal Flush above takes all.

I hope this helps.
