You raise 4 times the blind in third position with pocket 8’s Two callers. Flop comes 7,8,10 rainbow. First position mucks his hand you bet third of the pot some one goes all in for 3 times the pot. What do you do?
Yep i called as well. It was the first hand in a tournament, playing against a player i had never seen play before. Turned out he had Jack Nine. I think if you don’t know anything about the player you should fold you can always win your chips back, if you are a good enough player that is.

call…if they can beat this hand then that’s great for them, and people usually don’t make huge over-raises with a really big hand, so i think we have the best hand most of the time anyways
In a tournament definitely call, people will often push with overpairs, draws, top pair + draw etc. In other words I would definitely wager on you being ahead most of the time.
In a cash game its a different story because players tend to play a bit tighter. I think you’ve got to make a judgement on the player - if he’s been playing very tight on flops then maybe think about folding. However in the majority of cases I would still call; a lot of players won’t call a pre-flop raise with 96 or J9 and also even if they have one of these hands, you still have a lot of outs to hit a full house. If they’ve got 10 10 there’s little you can do - set over set is just plain bad luck, rather like AA v KK pre-flop.
This is a very good question.
It all depends on the size of the blinds. If the blinds are small like in the first hour of the tournament then fold. But if your in the second hour of the tourn. then call. Alot of people play so loose in the first hour its not even funny, and with the blinds still small they will try anything. 4 times the blind doesn’t apply here.
tough question
after thinking this over, i think its about 50/50
at first i thought, you are vulnerable to an enemy straight, come turn or river (or flush, if the suits are in play)… i think many ppl are confident with a jack that they would be willing to call your bet before the flop
but at the same time, a full house may come your way, although of course, the odds are probably only as good as someone with a straight or flush, with consideration of your pocket eights
in terms of equity, 50/50
just my humble opinion!
